Anatomy

Clinic for Orthopaedics and Accident Surgery: Hand Surgery Department

The hand has a very complex structure: It is composed of 27 bones, 33 muscles and a complex system of ligaments and tendons, the interaction of which enables a firm grip and precise movements.

The hand can be divided into three areas:

  • Carpus (wrist)
  • Metacarpal with palm and back of hand
  • Finger with a total of 14 finger bones
