Hand and foot surgery hours

Clinic for Orthopaedics and Accident Surgery: Department of Hand and Foot Surgery

Most people take it for granted that hands and feet function without problems. However, acute or chronic disorders can restrict performance and considerably reduce quality of life. We offer specialised hand and foot surgery hours for patients with these complaints.

Diagnosis and therapy

During the first visit, the doctor obtains an overview of the type and intensity of the complaints. In addition, the doctor requires information on previous injuries, operations and possible accompanying disorders such as rheumatism and diabetes mellitus.

Following the anamnesis, the doctor performs a physical examination of both feet: Among other things, he or she examines the mobility and stability of the joints and feels the foot. The doctor thus detects disorders of the feet. If necessary, this examination is supplemented by x-ray examinations and foot pressure measurements.

When the doctor has obtained a complete picture of the disorder, he or she explains the diagnosis and recommends suitable treatments to the patient. In the event of inconclusive findings, specialists from other departments (e.g. doctor for neurology) are consulted to clarify the diagnosis.
Your referring doctor is informed in writing of your stay at our hospital.

Documents

You can facilitate the doctor's work by bringing existing documents regarding examinations (X-ray images, doctor's letters) with you and giving them to the doctor. Often it is also helpful to make notes in advance of previous medical history and provide the doctor with these. Only thus is the doctor able to provide you with comprehensive advice in the time available.

A referral note from the current quarter  from the G.P. or specialist currently treating the patient is advantageous.
