Clinic for Orthopaedics and Accident Surgery: Sports Department

We mainly treat disorders of the shoulder joint, bottleneck syndromes, rotator cuff tears and implantation of artificial shoulder joints.

In addition, we treat disorders of the knee joint, such as ligament damage, meniscus damage, ostechondrosis dissecans and degenerative cartilage damage.

The upper ankle joint and the wrist are also main focuses of our treatment.

Cruciate ligament rupture is one of the most frequent sports injuries: In this case, one or both cruciate ligaments which stabilise the knee joint rupture due to abrupt rotational movements, falls or overstretching of the knee joint.

Autologous cartilage transplantation

In particular, sports accidents and some special disorders (osteochondrosis dissecans) lead to cartilage loss on the knee joint or ankle joint. If it goes untreated, cartilage damage may lead in many cases to the formation of premature joint wear (arthrosis).
