Research

Dear visitor,

In addition to patient care and university lectures, research is one of the core activities of our hospital: Under the management of Prof. Dr. med. Raimund W. Kinne, twelve scientists and five technical assistants work in our modern research department.

The main focuses are on implant research for cartilage replacement, cellular and molecular biology, osteoporosis, biomechanics, x-ray diagnostics as well as therapy of rheumatoid arthritis. In addition, we launched a project in December 2009 for quality assurance of regenerative tissue replacement materials.

Analysis of our clinical data enables us to carry out detailed research on causes of orthopaedic-rheumatic conditions. Conversely, we also thus obtain new insights, which we can apply directly to clinical practice. The central idea here is close linking of experimental and clinical research.

Due to the close proximity to patient care and the close cooperation with the clinical orthopaedic surgeons, research work is particularly effective and constructive. Our patients are the first to benefit from the new research results and the high level of our scientific work.
